The Weak Tight Twins formation is part of the Weak I sets. It features 21 personnel that places the flanker and split end tight on the same side of the field. The flanker lines up in the slot and is on the line of scrimmage. The split end is lined up outside of him and is off the line of scrimmage. This allows him a better chance of running his pass routes without being jammed at the line of scrimmage. The tight end lines up on the opposite side of the flanker and split end, next to the right tackle. Often one on one isolation’s can be created for the tight end since no receivers are lined up on his side of the field. The halfback lines up behind the quarterback. The fullback is placed offset of the formation to the weak side. By having the fullback lined up offset, it gives him more latitude at avoiding blocks and to get out of the backfield to become a receiver.
