The Singleback Tight Doubles – Texan Drag In creates a high-low read between X and H receivers. The H receiver is generally the receiver open as he comes across on his drag route. The Y receiver, who runs a corner route, will force the hook zone defender lined up on his side to drop back to cover him. His route will open the coverage underneath for the H receiver.

Receiver Pass Route Reads Coaching Points
X 12 Yard In 2 The X receiver runs a 12 yard in route. If no defender drops back in a hook zone where the X receivers breaks inside on his route, throw him the ball. Against man coverage, look for him once he cuts over the middle. Make sure he has inside leverage on the defender covering him before making the throw.
H Drag 1 If a zone defense is called look for him as he comes across the short middle of the field. The tight ends corner route should clear out any hook zone defenders in the area.
Y Corner 3 If Cover 2 or Cover 3 coverage is called, look for the tight end once he breaks towards the corner. The X receivers go route will force the cornerback on his side to drop back if Cover 3 coverage is called. His pass route should open a passing window to throw to the tight end.
Z Streak (Go) 4 If the defense calls bump-n-run man with Cover O coverage behind it, look for the X receiver after he breaks the jam. If he gets a few steps on his man, throw a high bullet pass to him.
HB Pass Block Right N/A The HB stays into pass block to the right.
