The Singleback Ace – Corner Strike is an excellent play to attack both man and zone coverages. On both sides of the field, there is a corner -flat combo between the run between the outside receiver and tight end.

Receiver | Pass Route | Reads | Coaching Points |
X | Corner with inside release | 1 | The X receiver runs a corner route with an inside release. Also known to the Madden community as the backward C route. Against man coverage, look for the X receiver just as he breaks up the field against man coverage. |
H | Shoot | 4 | If a zone blitz is called and a defender is covering the left flat, look to throw to him. |
Y | Shoot | 2 | If a zone blitz is called and defender is covering the right flat, look to throw to him. |
Z | Corner with inside release | 3 | Against zone coverage wait for him to break towards the corner before making the throw. |
HB | Delay Curl | 5 | Look to dump the ball off to him is zone defense is called no other receiver is open. |
Alternate Version
If Cover 2 zone coverage is called, consider hot routing at least one of the tight ends on a streak. Once the ball is snapped, look for the receiver on the same side as the tight end that was hot routed. Wait for the receiver to break towards the corner before making the throw.
