TNT713 continues to post useful Madden Strategies in his segment called 2 Minute Drill. In this Madden Strategies breakdown, he talks about using light pressure to go after the quarterback.

The following is a full post of the Madden Strategy article called “ Light Pressure” that was post by TNT713 of Madden University.

2MinDrill_LightPressure_Sma For years we’ve seen players scramble to find the fastest blitzes to create nano pressure against their opponents. Many forget about the effects of light pressure. Not only does it still do the job, but it leaves you less vulnerable to the dangers of heavy blitzing. In this episode, we discuss sending light pressure at opponents to strike a balance between coverage and pressure. Incomplete passes waste an offensive down and light pressure can create just enough confusion to force the quarterback to hold the ball or cause panic.

2:00 One thing is certain if you play Madden… Sooner of later, you’re gonna get some pressure. Successful Madden players have a plan for dealing with pressure. Its easy to fail when pressure is heavy, but your plan for dealing with it is too light. That’s what you get for laying down on the job.

1:23 – Madden players have to decide just how much pressure they are gonna send, so the quarterbacks aren’t able to pick them apart. Blitzing the passer isn’t just good for generating sacks. Even a little pressure denies receivers the separation they need to secure a catch. Pressure that creates incomplete passes means a win for the defense. Manual pressure in particular forces the offense to execute quickly.

0:59 – Forcing incomplete passes is not the only way to win with pressure. Often, forcing a throw short of the sticks is enough to get the ball back for your offense.

0:46 – It would seem like pressure is always a good idea, but it leaves defenders exposed when the offense has a plan. Even when pressure forces a hurried throw, the receiver can still win the 1-on-1 matchup. What’s worse, pressure mixed with a bad match up creates the potential for big plays. Whew!!! That was close…

0:26 Some players thrive on facing pressure. Instead of panic, they simply take advantage of the golden opportunities downfield. In a 1-on-1, the player with the best user skills wins.

0:13 Even with the potential dangers of pressure, nothing creates turnovers and defensive points like sending heat against an unsuspecting foe. More often than not, panic turns into points.
