A real football play that can be found in the St. Louis Rams 2000 playbook is called Double Rt Ace Seahawk that they used during their Super Bowl run. It’s a play that is very effective at attacking both man and zone coverage. It’s a play would we like to see added to the Madden 16 playbooks.
Actual Play Diagram Taking From the St. Louis Rams 2000 Playbook
Route Assignments:
X: Spot (6-8 yards) If press man coverage is called, runs a shallow cross
Y: Corner (18 yard) Has two choice routes he can also run depending on pass coverage
Z: Smash (6 yards)
F: Dig with outside release (16 yard)
H: Check, strong side sneak
Coaching Notes:
- Quarterback takes 7 step drop
- Vs press man coverage, the quarterback looks to throw to Y or Z
- Vs zone coverage, the quarterback looks to X, F, H
Madden 16 Playbook Wishlist:
If it were put in Madden 16 playbooks, the play could be called something like Singleback Double – Seahawk. This play would have several options to throw to as the the split ends primary route be effective against zone coverage, and his option route (shallow cross) would be an excellent man beater. The smash concept run by the tight end and flanker would be an effective zone beater.
Final Thoughts:
For those that play Madden, would you like to see this play added to Madden 16? If so, post a comment, or hit the Facebook Like button.
