We have already talked about trap plays in another section of the Gridiron Guide 14, but we want to go into more detail about a new trap play that has been added to this year’s game. The name of the play is called 01 Trap. In several Sinlgeback formation in the San Francisco playbook, you can find a variation of this trap play. The Singleback TE Flex – 01 Trap has the TE1 (A) and TE2 (RB) lined up on the, while the SE (X) and FL (B) line up on the right. The TE2 is lined up in a wing position. The play is designed to get the runningback through the 1 hole between the center and right guard. The left guard pulls to the right and looks to block the right end if the defense comes out in the 3-4 Odd.

Gridiron Guide 14 Tip: The 01 Trap play is a quick hitting play, meaning the runningback to gets to and through the line of scrimmage quickly.
